I thought I’d be taller by now
I thought I’d have more money in the bank, maybe a house to show.
A couple of pets, a dog- maybe three
I thought I’d have more direction and opportunities, especially after my degree.
Twenty-five is a pretty ‘adult’ age but there’s really not much to it, I’m still bumbling and struggling, trying to find where I’m supposed to be
There’s little point in getting constantly agitated or irate, some things are out of our control so we must leave them to ‘fate’
Sometimes it’s hard to accept certain pointers in life, particularly when society has brought you up believing different:
You’re supposed to be here at this age, have these things by that age, be married, have kids, have this much in your savings, your pension, secure stability – but truth be told I’m still waiting for my opportunity
I’m still working on where I’m going, myself and what I want to be
It’s funny how society forces upon us so many expectations – but what’s the price we pay for reaching the finish line first?
I’ll keep my focus, persistence; dedication and dreams. I’ll keep my head down, in silence, eventually this zealous woman will appear where she’s meant to be
I really liked this. Could 100% relate. Thanks for the reminder that everyone is moving at their own pace!
